Evil Eye -- Boss #6
Ambushes you the moment you pick up the Levistone from the chest on B2. Only 162 HP-but it carries three instant-kill spells: Death, Glare, and Rub. Any one of them erases a party member with no save. The entire strategy is to kill it in one turn before it acts. At level 28, this is completely doable.

Strategy
Skip every buff, every defensive setup, every status spell. This fight ends in one turn or someone dies. All four party members attack or cast offensively on turn one. Warrior: Attack with your best weapon. A Warrior with a good sword at level 28 deals 80 to 120 damage in one hit-often enough alone to clear 162 HP. Black Mage: Firaga or Thundaga. Even against 92 Magic Defense, these deal 60 to 100+ damage at this level. Monk: Physical attack. Bare-handed damage scales well at level 28. White Mage: Attack physically or cast Diaga. Diaga at this level hits for 40 to 60. Combined with the rest of the party, 162 HP is gone in one round. If the Evil Eye survives turn one, it will cast Death, Glare, or Rub on its next action. All three are guaranteed instant-kills that ignore HP. There is no status immunity, no protection spell, and no way to dodge them. At this level, surviving turn one is the only viable defense-and it should not come up.
Quick Tips
- • Make sure your party is at full HP before picking up the Levistone. The ambush triggers immediately with no warning.
- • The Flame Sword from Mount Gulg deals extra fire damage. If your Warrior has it, this fight is over before the Evil Eye gets a turn.
- • If you are underleveled and worried about surviving a possible round two, have Phoenix Downs in your item slots. It is the only contingency available.
Turn-by-Turn Guide
- 1. Turn 1: Warrior attacks with best weapon (80-120 damage)
- 2. Black Mage casts Firaga or Thundaga (60-100+ damage)

- 4. White Mage attacks or casts Diaga (40-60 damage)
- 5. Total party damage: 260-340 HP (far exceeds 162)
- 6. Fight should end before Evil Eye acts
- 7. If it survives: instant-kill spells (Death, Glare, Rub)
Rewards
The Levistone is now in your inventory. Navigate back out of the Cavern of Ice-fall through a cracked floor to reach B3, fight through to the B1 stairs, and exit north. The dungeon is full of undead on the way out; Fire and Dia spells clear them quickly. Canoe to Crescent Lake and rest. Then head south by canoe to the small desert below town. Walk into the desert with the Levistone and the Airship rises from under the sand. The Airship opens the entire world map. Your next destination is the Citadel of Trials for the Rat's Tail and class upgrades. Bring Gold Needles-Basilisks and Medusas throughout the Citadel can petrify party members.
