Final Fantasy 1 Pixel Remaster Walkthrough
Complete guide. All 249 chests, 128 enemies, 18 bosses, 24 trophies.
Final Fantasy 1 Pixel Remaster is a full rebuild of the 1987 NES original with updated pixel art, a rearranged Nobuo Uematsu soundtrack, and quality-of-life fixes that make the classic JRPG more approachable than ever. This guide covers every chest, every boss, and every enemy from Cornelia to the Chaos Shrine, including all 24 PSN trophies.
Nothing in FF1 PR is permanently missable. Every dungeon stays open and every chest stays put, so you can clean up anything after the credits.
Walkthrough
12 chapters from Garland at the Chaos Shrine to the final battle with Chaos. The first six chapters follow a linear path. After you get the Airship, the world opens up.
Chapter 1: Cornelia
Equip your party, rescue Princess Sarah from Garland, and unlock the bridge north.
Chapter 2: Pravoka
Clear Bikke's pirates to earn your first ship, then sail south to explore.
Chapter 3: Elfheim
Trek through the Marsh Cave for the Crown, beat Astos, and use the Mystic Key to unlock doors worldwide.
Chapter 4: Melmond
Fight through the Cavern of Earth, defeat Vampire and Lich, and restore the Earth Crystal.
Chapter 5: Crescent Lake
Visit the Circle of Sages and descend into Mount Gulg to defeat Marilith and restore the Fire Crystal.
Chapter 6: Cavern of Ice
Brave the frozen floors to claim the Levistone and raise the Airship from the desert.
Chapter 7: Citadel of Trials
Navigate the teleporter puzzles, grab the Rat's Tail, and earn your class upgrades from Bahamut.
Chapter 8: Gaia
Buy Oxyale from the fairy and grab the Warp Cube from the Waterfall Cavern.
Chapter 9: Sunken Shrine
Dive into the five-floor underwater dungeon and defeat Kraken to restore the Water Crystal.
Chapter 10: Lufenia
Learn the ancient language and collect the Chime needed to enter the Mirage Tower.
Chapter 11: Mirage Tower
Climb the desert tower, warp into the Flying Fortress, and defeat Tiamat to restore the Wind Crystal.
Chapter 12: Chaos Shrine
Return to the beginning. Travel 2,000 years into the past and fight through the four Fiends reborn before facing Chaos.
Choose Your Party
Pick four classes from six options before the game starts. Your selection is locked in for the entire run. Class upgrades arrive mid-game after the Citadel of Trials. Slot 1 absorbs roughly 50% of all physical attacks, so put your tankiest class there.
Warrior
(Tank)
Heaviest armor, strongest front line. Gains White Magic 1-3 after class change.
Monk
(DPS)
Fights bare-handed. Highest HP and best endgame damage output. Weak early, dominant after class change.
Thief
(Utility)
Weak early with limited gear. Becomes Ninja after class change, one of the best classes in the game.
Red Mage
(Hybrid)
Best early flexibility. Can heal, nuke, and swing a sword. Dedicated casters outscale it by midgame.
White Mage
(Healer)
Dia shreds undead enemies, which fill most dungeons. Healaga sustains through long dungeons.
Black Mage
(Nuker)
Group damage that wipes encounters fast and destroys bosses with elemental weaknesses. Fragile.
Recommended for new players: Warrior, Red Mage, Thief, White Mage. Double healing covers mistakes and Thief becomes Ninja for a strong late game.
Boss Strategies
18 bosses from Garland at the opening Chaos Shrine to Chaos himself with 20,000 HP. The Four Fiends guard each Crystal: Lich in the Cavern of Earth, Marilith at Mount Gulg, Kraken in the Sunken Shrine, and Tiamat in the Flying Fortress. Warmech is a rare encounter on the Flying Fortress 5F bridge and hits harder than most Fiends.
Trophies
24 PSN trophies: 10 Bronze, 6 Silver, 7 Gold, 1 Platinum. None are missable. Every location stays open and every chest stays put, so you can clean up after the credits. The two grinds that take real effort are getting all four party members to level 50 and hunting Warmech for the 100% bestiary. With 4x EXP enabled, the platinum takes 10 to 15 hours.
