H1: Pravoka and the Pirate Ship

Chapter stats: 3 Chests | 10 New Enemies | 1 Boss

Cross the newly built bridge north of Cornelia and head northeast along the coast. The goal of this chapter is to reach Pravoka, clear out Bikke's pirate crew, and claim the ship to open sea travel.


H2: Matoya's Cave

The cave sits just north of the bridge and is worth a quick stop on the way to Pravoka. Three chests wait inside.

Chest locations:

  • Inside the cave: 2 Potions, 1 Antidote

Matoya tells you she cannot brew potions because she lost her Crystal Eye. Remember this detail -- you will return here with it during the Elfheim chapter. Nothing else to do here for now.


H2: Pravoka Town

Pravoka is your first chance to expand your magic lineup and pick up weapon upgrades.

What to buy in Pravoka:

  • Black Magic Shop: Blizzard for your Black Mage or Red Mage -- strong damage against most enemies on the sea and into the Elfheim chapter
  • Black Magic Shop: Temper -- buffs a fighter's attack power. One of the best early buffs in the game. Cast it on your Warrior before tough fights
  • White Magic Shop: Invis -- reduces enemy accuracy. Useful but not essential at this point
  • Weapon Shop: Broadsword for your Warrior or Red Mage if they need an upgrade
  • Armor Shop: Iron Armor for your Warrior if you skipped it in Cornelia

Blizzard and Temper are the priority buys. Skip Invis unless you have spare Gil after grabbing the essentials.


H2: Boss -- Bikke's Pirates

Bikke the pirate refuses to hand over his ship. Talking to him starts a fight against his crew.

Boss Stats:

  • Enemies: 9 Pirates
  • HP: 24 HP each
  • Attack: Physical only
  • Weakness: None

Strategy: All nine pirates have just 24 HP. Split your attackers across different targets and most of them fall in a single hit. Your Warrior and Monk clean up two or three per turn. There is no magic trick here -- just attack everything in sight. Your Black Mage can use Fire or Blizzard to potentially hit multiple pirates, but spending MP here is wasteful. The fight ends in two rounds at any reasonable level.

H2: Setting Sail

After the fight the ship is yours. Sail south from Pravoka's harbor to reach Elfheim on the southern continent.

Sea encounter notes:

  • Sharks, Sahagin, and similar enemies fill most ship battles
  • Four of the five new sea enemy types are weak to Thunder -- save Blizzard for land encounters where it hits harder
  • Sea battles are generally easy at the level you leave Pravoka. Keep Potions stocked and you will not have trouble

Elfheim is directly south. Hug the coast west once you reach the southern landmass.
